With assistance from the Commonwealth Government’s $198 million Regional Air Network Assistance Package, twice-weekly air services between Coffs Harbour and Brisbane have been reinstated by Fly Corporate.
Each Wednesday and Friday, Fly Corporate departs Coffs Harbour at 09.25 am for Brisbane (via Armidale) arriving at 11.25 am. The direct return flight service departs Brisbane at 08.00 am arriving at 09.00 am into Coffs Harbour.
Coffs Harbour airport manager, Glenn Robinson said, “It is fantastic to see Fly Corporate back in the air. With the support of the Commonwealth Government, we now have reliable schedules for those that have a legitimate need to travel to and from the region”.
As on the ground, travelling by air requires airlines to implement Covid-19 social distancing principles. This means that not every seat on each flight is available for purchase as passengers are seated apart throughout the cabin.
Pat Conaghan, MP for Cowper said, “The Commonwealth Government recognises the need for air services to be maintained to connect regional Australia to major capitals for medical testing, freight, supplies and essential personnel. Coffs Harbour is one of the country’s major regional economic, educational and medical hubs on north coast New South Wales and it is imperative we keep this and other regional air routes open”.
In addition to Corporate Air services between Coffs Harbour and Brisbane, QantasLink operates twice-weekly flights to and from Sydney each Friday and Monday.
Despite the significant drop in air traffic, Coffs Harbour Airport continues to be maintained and operated to the required regulatory standard.
