Coffs Harbour Regional Airport has reached another significant milestone.
The airport has passed the 400,000 passenger mark, an all-time record, and will reach 420,000 by the end of the financial year.
According to Airport Manager, Dennis Martin this result is particularly pleasing as it has been achieved within a subdued domestic aviation environment nationally.
“We have been working on a specific growth strategy for several years which involved the development of detailed business proposals and extensive negotiations with our airline partners and it is nice to see positive outcomes as a result,” he said.
Coffs Harbour is now serviced by five airlines, Qantaslink, Virgin Australia, Tigerair, Fly Corporate and Fly Pelican operating direct flights to Sydney, Melbourne Brisbane and Newcastle.
Like most businesses critical mass is a cornerstone to a solid foundation for future growth and sustainability and with the airport heading towards half a million passengers per annum Coffs Harbour is fast becoming one of the best regional airports in Australia.
Major upgrade work to the terminal and aircraft parking areas will ensure that Coffs Harbour has the infrastructure and services to cater for projected growth for many years to come.
On completion of current works the airport will be able to process over 1,000 passengers per hour during peak periods.
